Biography
J. Bryce Routhier is a clinical mental health counselor and a transgender woman. Bryce started in mental health as a client herself trying to figure out and work through her own struggles and difficulties. After gaining significant awareness of her own personal process, Bryce realized she had a deep need to help others with a hope that her understanding would be of service to others. That led her to leaving her previous career in restaurant management and to pursuing an education is psychology and counseling.
Bryce believes that an individual’s personal process and growth is always enhanced, first and foremost, by the gaining of deeper awareness of their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns. By coming to see the way their patterns have positively and negatively affected their life and relationships, they can start to make different choices as to how they want to live and act in the world.
Bryce has an Associate’s of Art in Philosophy, a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology, and earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayne State University. Bryce specializes in LGBTQ+ therapy, individual, couples, and group counseling and works with teens and adults. Bryce has an additional three years of training at the Gestalt Counseling and Training Institute of Ann Arbor, and has completed training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and the treatment of personality disorders.
