Biography
Kevin believes that everyone has within them the qualities they need to be successful, though they often do not see it at first. As a therapist, Kevin works to help people realize their own abilities and develop the tools they need to use them. Whether you are struggling with mental or physical illness, family or relationship distress, or the low self-esteem that can sometimes affect all of us, Kevin will be there for you.
He will help you develop an understanding of how your life’s history has not only impacted your present struggles, but given you the strength to overcome them as well. Kevin’s therapeutic process will provide you with the support you need to grow in self-awareness and self-confidence. Together, you will learn to use skills you never knew you had to overcome obstacles you never thought you could.
Kevin received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 2011. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2014, during which time he worked as a play therapist for the family of a young boy on the Autism Spectrum.
After graduation he conducted therapy with groups and individuals struggling with dependency and became well versed in several treatment methods including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Empowerment Theory, and Gestalt Therapy, learning to integrate multiple approaches into supporting each person’s different path.
For the past five years Kevin has helped people with developmental disabilities overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges to achieve success in their work, home, and community. With their resilience in mind, Kevin recently returned to counseling to help people of all abilities and backgrounds recognize that with the right support, they have what it takes to achieve their goals as well.
Kevin lives in Lansing with his two rescue cats, Ike and Snowplow, who are still getting used to him doing therapy from home.
