Biography

Mariah Martinez believes that everything, from our environment to our biological makeup to all of our experiences across our lifespan – whether they be physical, mental, social, or emotional – have an impact on who we are. Mariah tailors her sessions to accommodate each client and their unique journey as well as their needs and goals.

She identifies possible generational patterns and cycles, and uses CBT techniques to help clients reflect on who they are, what they have been through, and what they have to learn.

Mariah believes that it is a critical necessity to provide a safe and trusting environment for counseling that includes empathy, respect, and validation. These three elements work together to create a powerful journey of self discovery.. Self-awareness, care, and growth can be challenging; in counseling however, the client gains the knowledge and coping skills they can take with them to use in their life and continue to use even after they leave counseling.

Mariah has been developing her knowledge and services by working with a multitude of diverse clients in individual, couples, and family counseling settings. She has successfully counseled clients dealing with anxiety, depression, familial/relationship conflict, and grief and loss.

Mariah attended Central Michigan University and received a Bachelor’s in Science with a double major in Psychology and Family Studies as well as her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Mariah loves to stay physically active as well as read, write, and relax in her quaint home in the area with her 2 cats, 2 dogs, and her fiancé Taylor.
