Biography

Christiian is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) who graduated with his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. Christiian decided he wanted to become a mental health counselor through a transformative experience with counseling as a teenager.

Christiian has experience working with adolescents, college aged adults, adults, and older adults who have experienced distress in many facets of their lives. Some of the distress Christiian and clients have worked together to resolve or at least lessen the distress involved include, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, boundaries, life transitions, self-harm, and suicidality.

Christiian believes that the distress, trauma, and pain in our present doesn’t have to be our future. That everyone can grow, change, and become the person they want to be. Working with Christiian, clients can gain a different perspective and awareness of the distress that happens in their life and how their past experiences influence them to this day. Clients better understand how their thoughts, beliefs, and values, influence their current thought and behavior patterns, and how to break that influence to change and heal.

Therapy can be challenging. While working with Christiian, the client is the expert on their life, and Christiian as the expert on mental health. Together they set about working on the issues that are causing distress. Christiian teaches clients how to identify, and then challenge irrational thoughts/beliefs about themselves.  During this process the client and Christiian will work together to find the root of these issues. These roots are often based in the client’s past. Sometimes our trauma can influence how we view the world, ourselves, others, our feelings of safety, power, and so much more. Through a method, we often see significant change in roughly 12 sessions. Christian will work with clients to help them learn how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma.

Christiian lives in Jackson with his wife, two dogs and many cats. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, hiking, comedies, and nights in with his animals.
