Biography

Sierra Baker knew her purpose was to help others when she went through her own transformative experience engaging in therapy to deconstruct patterns of unhealthy and unhelpful ways of thinking. She understands that the therapist needs to have a genuine curiosity for their clients and an authenticity in their therapeutic relationship for lasting progress to be made.

While working with Sierra, the process will always be guided with your best interest in mind. Whatever the challenges that life brings you, Sierra will provide a safe space and use compassion while helping you build insight and self-awareness so you can identify your strengths and areas for growth – ultimately guiding you to feel more fulfilled, whole, and true to yourself.

Sierra practices from an empowerment-based and holistic perspective. She appreciates the value that the little things in life holds for all of us, such as being connected to music, art, animals, and the natural world. Sierra will also work with you on identifying unhealthy patterns of thinking and behaviors that negatively impact your self-esteem and relationships while keeping in mind how your environment and the world around you impacts you as an individual. The ultimate goal is to put you in control of your emotions and behaviors rather than them having control over you, and to ensure that you have the skills and insight after therapy to continue thriving.

Sierra received her Bachelor’s of Social Work and Master’s of Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University. She has notable experience with women’s issues, sexual assault and other traumas, crisis intervention and short-term crisis treatment planning. She has completed training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and regularly practices strengths-based and person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, mindfulness-based, and narrative therapy.

Sierra lives with her two fur-babies, Oslo and Juniper, and her foster fur-baby Tao. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, bike riding, listening to music, playing violin, and making art.
